Protecting Your Time, Energy, and Wellbeing: What's Next for PDHPE & CAFS

Oct 03, 2023

As a former teacher with over 20 years of experience, my mission is to help you protect your precious time, energy, and well-being. Let’s explore the joys of the school holidays, the challenges of a new term, and some strategies to make your teaching journey smoother!

Feeling Positive About Term Four

For me, term four is like hitting the reset button. I absolutely love this time of year because it brings out the best in me. But I know it's not the same for everyone. Some might dread the return to school while the rest of the world seems to be in holiday mode. If you're in that camp, you're not alone. It's essential to acknowledge your feelings and find ways to approach the new term with positivity.

My Teaching Journey

Now, let me share a bit about my journey. I started teaching PDHPE and Community and Family Studies back in 2004 when I was just 22 years old. I came straight out of university and was lucky to find a teaching job at a local all-girls Catholic school. That two-week leave block turned into a full-time position. Fast forward to today and I've spent 20 years in education.

The Turning Point

My career took an unexpected turn when I left the classroom in July 2020. It was a challenging decision, but I felt it was the right one. At that point, I had been dealing with shingles and a toxic work environment. Leaving the classroom allowed me to make a more extensive impact on PDHPE and Community and Family Studies in NSW.

A Mission to Support Teachers

My core mission has always been to protect the precious time, energy and wellbeing of educators. I know the challenges teachers face daily, and I want to make your teaching journey smoother. I may not have any magic tricks up my sleeve, but I do have valuable insights from my 16 years as a classroom teacher.
