What if PDHPE didn’t feel so hard?

What If PDHPE Didn’t Have to Be So Hard?

Let’s be real, teaching PDHPE in NSW has never been “just a 9 to 3” job. Whether you’re in a primary school or juggling multiple classes in high school, the prep,

the programming and the pressure don’t end with the bell.

But what if it didn’t have to be so hard?

That’s the question we’re asking during PDHPE Open Week and it’s the foundation of everything we’re building inside our memberships at The Learning Network.

The Real Cost of Teaching Without Support

In this week’s podcast episode, I got candid about my own story of how I went from a high-achieving, highly involved teacher to completely burnt out.

Shingles, toxic leadership, working during holidays, weekends and late nights... it was unsustainable. And unfortunately, it’s not unique.

Thousands of NSW teachers are still in that same cycle:

  • Carrying the mental load of curriculum updates.
  • Creating resources from scratch, often with no clear benchmark.
  • Trying to support diverse learners with little professional support themselves.

This episode isn’t just about my story, it's a wake-up call and a call to action.

  The Perfectionist Trap

Many of us (especially those passionate about health and student wellbeing) are recovering perfectionists. We care so much about doing it right, our programming, our student outcomes, our displays, our scope and sequences that we burn ourselves out trying to do it all.

  If you’ve ever found yourself:

  • Starting a weekend with your laptop open “just to get ahead”
  • Feeling guilty about not being “more prepared”
  • Saying yes to school extras when your plate is already full

Then it’s time to break that cycle. PDHPE doesn’t have to be done alone

What We’re Doing Differently

Inside our PDHPE memberships, we’ve completely reimagined what support looks like. This is about more than resource, it’s about building a professional safety net:

  - Syllabus-aligned programs: so you’re not second-guessing your content.
- Ready-to-use resources: done for you, so you stop reinventing the wheel.
- Practical planning support: so your weeks run smoother.
- Real connection: with a like-minded community who gets it.

This isn’t extra on your to-do list, it’s the support system that replaces the Sunday slog and after-hours workload.
