This week I'm joined by Jess who shares her experience introducing CAFS to an all-boys school for the first time. She discusses the changes she made to her teaching approach and curriculum to engage male students.
Jess also provides advice for other teachers looking to offer CAFS in schools that have not done so previously.
Episode Highlights
Ā
- Visuals, hands-on activities and relatable examples are important for engaging male students in CAFS.
- Ā Literacy strategies like annotating, key terms and example responses help improve boys' writing skills.
- Getting support from other teachers, the principal and promoting career links can help "sell" CAFS to students and parents.
- Differentiating instruction and checking for understanding regularly ensures all learners are supported.
